SUNDAR was founded by Ms. Erin Zaikis. She came to Mumbai from New York to run a small-scale project for soap recycling. She has named her efforts “Sundara” meaning beautiful, because it spoke of the beauty of being able to do good for people. In October 2016 SUNDAR was officially registered as a Trust in India.
Since May 2018 we are operating as an independent trust in India. We have now expanded our partnership to 55 hotels from Mumbai, Pune and rest of India. A large family of 30 staff are working on the mission of giving less privileged children in slums and tribal areas a better and healthier future through free soap distribution along with hand hygiene lessons.

Mission
Sundar India mission is to reduce preventable hygiene related diseases and deaths in vulnerable populations (especially children and women) through sustainable solutions that involve female empowerment, local involvement and intensive hygiene education.
